BARCELO BAVARO PALACE REVIEW
We recently went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and it was amazing. I have a feeling this is going to be one of our top vacation destinations from now on. The weather was perfect, the people, the culture, everything was phenomenal. We loved it so much that we decided to make a series of blogs and videos about the place and about Punta Cana, to better help you understand why we want to go back and spend more time there. Also, the blogs will help educate you and learn more about the resort and about Punta Cana. Here are our top ten reasons why we highly recommend Barcelo Bavaro Palace Resort when vacationing in Punta Cana. Let’s go….

1. LOCATION
I don’t know about you but I like to stay close to the airport whenever I travel. The closer I am to the airport, the less stressed I am about leaving and having to worry about how long it’s going to take us to get to the airport, traffic, etc. It was a short 15-20 minute ride from the airport which again, brings me peace of mind. It is also very close to the internationally famous club Coco Bongo, so if you are into night life and clubbing, you will be a short ride away from this famous club. Last but not least, if you want to experience local culture, you have a market literally next to the resort, it is a short 20 minute walk on the beach, but once you get there you can experience local culture and escape the resort for a few hours if you’re into that. I give this resort a 10 when it comes to location, perfectly placed.

2. FOOD
WE LOVE FOOD and this resort has it all! From Mexican to Chinese, steak house to seafood, fancy dinners to buffets, salad bars, fruit bars, hibachi, and more. Even though the buffet had a plethora of choices, we highly suggest you make reservations for dinner at the restaurants. The experience of eating at these restaurants is unique and best of all, it’s included in the price of the resort. Make sure you ask for their attire requirements as some of these restaurants will not let you in in certain clothing. You can’t go in your flops & tank top my guy lol

3. DRINKS
MAMA JUANAAAA … If you go to Punta Cana and you don’t try a Mama Juana, did you even go to Punta Cana? Don’t miss out on trying their local drink, the Mama Juana. It is actually delicious; it is made with rum, red wine, honey and local herbs. Anyways, the resort provides you with different bars where you can order anything from a pineapple coconut margarita, a caipirinha, coffee with baileys, rum & coke, slushies for the kids, spiked slushies for the adults, etc. You get the point… I counted five different bars spread out through out the resort (I am sure there is more). There was never a moment where you had to walk a long way for you to get a drink, there is always a bar in sight.

4. THE BEACH
The beach is a short walk away, like literally right there in front of you. This was the first time I stayed at a place where the beach was part of the resort and I loved it. The idea of waking up early in the morning, stopping by the bar to get some coffee (with Baileys because why not) and catching the sunrise all within a couple of feet from my room sounds like heaven to me. Best thing about it too was that if you needed to take a quick break, or go to your room to get something, it took us no more than 5 minutes to go and come back. That to me was worth the price of the resort. There was one occasion where I went to my room to get something and I counted exactly 6 minutes from the beach to my room and back.

5. THE STAFF
The staff at Barcelo Bavaro Palace are one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. As long as you greet them, you interact with them, they will treat you like their best friend. So many times we interacted with the staff and they treated us like family. At the buffet the waiter was constantly checking on us to fill up our drinks, at the bar the bartenders gifted us a bottle of wine to take to our room, at the restaurant the waiter brought us some champagne, those are some examples of how nice these people are. I do have to admit that speaking Spanish helps, but I am sure that if you treat them like friends, even if you don’t speak their language, they will show gratitude and treat you extra nice.

6. SPORTS
No matter what sport you’re into, they have fields for you to play. They have one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean, they have soccer fields, baseball fields, beach volleyball, kayaking, beach soccer, an indoor gym, and more. The best thing is that whatever water sport you are into, they have it because duh, the ocean is right there. So if you are into fitness and playing sports, you will have an opportunity to show off your skills while on vacation.

7. EXCURSIONS
usually when we go on vacation, we have to go out of our way to find a tour or an excursion. At the resort, they have an office designated for tours and excursions. There is no need for you to leave the resort and look for excursions, they are right there in the lobby. We were able to book a dune buggy excursion and our party did a Party Boat right there on the resort too. If you are into snorkeling or water excursions, the office for that is located right next to the beach, so literally you can go from your room to the beach, to the excursion office all within minutes of each other. Everything is set up so that you don’t have to worry about anything but having fun while on vacation.
8. WEATHER
For some reason I thought it was going to be somewhat cool in Punta Cana being that we went in January so I took a jacket with me just in case. Boy was I wrong, the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold, not too humid, just perfect. Now, I did read that mid December through May are the best times to visit since it is not hurricane season, but I also read that no matter when you go, there is always tourists in Punta Cana. Our advice is to go during Northern Hemispheres winter season, escape the cold and sunbathe in the beaches of Punta Cana.

9. ENTERTAINMENT
Not everything is partying and beach life. Some people might like to bowl, gamble, shop, catch a play, etc. and this resort has it all. If you come with kids, they have a waterpark designed for the little ones. If you like to gamble, there is a casino in the resort where you can play until early in the morning (3 am I think). They have bowling, pool tables, a theater, and under the lobby they have plenty of stores you can shop around for souvenirs or for yourself. If top brands are what you are into, don’t worry, we saw a store selling Gucci & Louis Vuitton products.

10. COVID TESTING
Last but not least, they make it so easy for you to get covid tested, get your results right there inside the resort, print your results and send you on your way home. There is no need to book ahead of time or leave the resort to go to a clinic to do your test. They do it right there at the resort and they give you your results within minutes. That was one of my concerns when we were booking, I was trying to figure out where we were going to get a covid test near the resort, but once I got there and realized they do the covid test on site, I was relieved.

In conclusion, there are plenty of resorts to book from when visiting Punta Cana. There are plenty of hotels, hostels, villas, airbnbs and more, but if you ask us, we will always recommend Barcelo Bavaro Palace.
